Pair of Italian Walnut Armchairs, circa 1940

$14,500.00

A pair of Italian 1940's walnut arm chairs; highly sculptural with wood panel backs and brass mounts. The solid wood frame with strong, sculptural lines. The side-supports lend both structural stability and visual lightness, while highlighting the high level of craftsmanship. With precise joinery and the gently splayed back legs which transition seamlessly into the armrests give the chairs a sense of balance and restraint. Their seats and backs are upholstered in a Maharam cream colored cotton. The creamy, textural surface of the upholstery contrasts beautifully with the wooden frame, highlighting the inherent character of both materials. The chairs display harmony between simplicity and luxury, function and expression.
